A Sprint Through the Greater Kruger: Mega Educational 2026

Twice a year, Sun Destinations hosts a Mega Educational in the Greater Kruger. This allows travel agents to learn more about our properties.

This year’s Mega Ed took place from 26 to 30 January 2026. It saw the Sun Destinations team take agents from New Frontiers Tours, Go 2 Adventures, African Ample Assistance, and Tour d’Afrique on a tour of some of our properties.

The itinerary

The group started their journey at Nambu Camp in the Olifants West Nature Reserve, where they enjoyed meals and an afternoon game drive together. They overnighted at Nambu before being transported to Nkuwa Wilderness Camp, the latest camp in our collection, in the Selati Game Reserve, for a site inspection. Before travelling to Nyala Safari Lodge in the Balule Nature Reserve for a game drive and stayed overnight at the thatch chalets.

On 28 January, after the morning game drive, the group went to Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. At this point, because of the intimate nature of the properties, the group was split into two, with some staying at Africa on Foot and others at nThambo Tree Camp. Although the groups overnighted at separate camps over the same traverse, they went on a site visit to the camp that they did not stay at.

The next day, the entire group was transported to Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside in the Sabie Game Reserve. At Umkumbe, the group partook in all activities, including both morning and evening game drives, before departing on 30 January.

The highlights

We asked the attendees about the highlights of their trip, and they said that the first thing that stood out was how beautiful the properties are, and how attentive the staff was; in this way, they understood how the experience might be from the perspective of the guests. They also highlighted how informative the guides were and how their passion for the wilderness helped them to understand the Greater Kruger better.

A memorable moment was when they saw two male lions walking towards the safari vehicle between the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve and the Timbavati Nature Reserve.

Mega Ed is important because it gives agents the chance to truly experience the properties in the Sun Destinations collection for themselves. It gives them more confidence and authenticity when supporting their clients and recommending trips.

This trip also allowed Sun Destinations to build stronger relationships with agents and make sure that they received first-hand knowledge about what makes the properties special and unique.
