Capture the rhythm of the Delta in Botswana on an experiential journey of the Okavango River, aboard the Ngwesi Okavango Houseboat. Moored on the river, near the village of Shakawe, Ngwesi Houseboat offers excursions on tender boats to explore the Delta’s countless water channels, floating islands and fertile banks; as well as, Mokoro excursions whereby guests discover the Delta with traditional sentiment with an experienced local guide. The untouched wilderness sanctuary of the Delta is ideal for quiet discovery.
The rooftop of the houseboat projects astonishing views of the plethora of wildlife ambling through the long grass, while melodic calls sound through the still swamp air and fish slice through the waters beneath. Overnighting on a small island interrupting the waterways is an adventurous and unique experience, guests are surrounded by grunting hippos, bellowing baboons, and feeding elephants; singing an indigenously African lullaby.

This luxury lodge is situated in the heart of the Central Kalahari, on an 11000 hectare private wildlife conservancy, bordering the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. About 30 km north of Deception Valley, Haina Lodge offers an authentic African safari experience in the semi-aridity of the Kalahari, open savannahs and immaculate bushveld. The real attraction of this location lies within the environment itself – expansive, remote and uninhabited, allowing the plethora of wildlife Botswana is known for to roam freely along familiar routes, guaranteeing a breathtaking safari experience.
The parched riverbeds of the Kalahari are replenished from November to March during summer’s rainy season, as short-lived, yet frequent, thunderstorms urge refreshing bursts of rain showers. Newborn vegetation and saturated soils invite aggregations of herbivores to the fossil riverbeds, resulting in unusually high predator concentrations; with the Kalahari’s iconic black-maned lions and the endangered cheetah featuring largely in guest experiences.
