The rustic and locally-owned Boteti Tented Camp is situated on the banks of the Boteti River, just 45-minutes outside of Maun on the outskirts of a local community where the owner spent his childhood. Boteti is an ideal stopover en route or finishing up on your jam-packed safari adventure, as it introduces you to a slice of the authentic, local Maun way of life while allowing you to ramp up your safari experience by adding in a few more safari tours. Staying at Boteti offers you an opportunity to give back, as everything about this camp is about supporting the local community.
Even the fresh produce and dairy is sourced locally. Boteti Tented Camp is located a few metres from one of the tributaries of the Okavango Delta, the Boteti River. The Boteti River is a life source of water for the arid Kalahari plains and famed Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Considering the river is the only reliable water source in the area, it’s no surprise that it’s a magnet for crocodiles, hippos, and wading birds.
Boteti Tented Camp sleeps 10 people in 5 Meru-style canvas tents built on wooden platforms. Each expansive tent sleeps 2 people maximum, and has ample space to move around. Each tent has a wooden chest for storage, bedside table, work desk, and an en suite bathroom surrounded by a wall of rustic wooden poles. Comfort at its finest!
With simple decor and designer African-inspired accents, the intimate Boteti Tented Camp is an extension of its wild surrounds. The main area is built on a wooden platform under canvas. There’s a small lounge, dining area and a beautifully constructed bar with inspirational decor. From the main area, the decking flows out to an outdoor relaxation spot with a swimming pool and poolside sun loungers.
Boteti offers a multitude of exciting safari activities and adventures designed to introduce guests to the local cultures and customs; wildlife; and surreal landscapes. The cost of your stay includes one activity a day, and others can be added on at an extra cost. If you are only staying for a short time, we highly recommend the day trip into the Moremi Game Reserve or the Okavango Delta safari which includes a short game drive, walk and mokoro.
Boteti Tented Camp is the perfect place to end your safari experience, and get to know a more simple, traditional way of life combined with a flexible safari experience.
A recent TripAdvisor guest commented, “This small camp is right on the river and offers tented accommodation. There is a very attractive pool deck, bar and dining area. Two thoughtful touches are the small deck at the riverside, where you can enjoy the last rays of the day. and the simple but good boma dinner, which offers traditional food.”
