Africa on Foot

Overview

Africa on Foot is located in the heart of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, a Big 5 reserve sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park and the revered Timbavati Nature Reserve. The small and intimate camp specialises in professionally guided walking safaris. Walking safaris aside, Africa on Foot’s other unique selling points include: the lofty romantic treehouse; second swimming pool; and warm hospitality.

The five thatched chalets (rondavels) are decorated in a simple style with subtle bushveld hues, and boast exceptionally comfortable linen and beds. Two of the chalets are family rooms with en-suite bathrooms and showers, while the other three rooms are King/Twin rooms (two of which have outdoor showers).

Guests can expect comfortable lodgings—ideal for those who value their creature comforts. For the more adventurous, the open-air treehouse provides a thrilling experience with its unparalleled views of the wilderness beyond.

The safari-style main area is where guests spend hours chatting about their sightings, connecting over tasty homecooked fare. Tucked away in the corner, is a modern safari-inspired bar and small lounge leading into a dining area. The iconic boma flows out from the dining area, and is the perfect place to unwind after a day on safari. Boma experiences are a quintessential part of the safari experience, and provide ample opportunity for guests to chat over a roaring campfire.

Two on-site swimming pools (one inside the camp and the other at the treehouse), provide the perfect place to cool off from the searing summer heat. The pool in the camp’s main section is frequented by elephants during the dry winter months.

The morning starts with a relatively flat 3-hour walk through the Klaserie where guests will learn about the wild from their expert guide. Evenings are spent exploring the bushveld in an open-topped game viewer searching for predators.

Africa on Foot is the perfect authentic Kruger hideaway for a Klaserie Private Nature Reserve walking safari.

A recent TripAdvisor guest commented, “We had a lovely stay. The game drives were very exciting and the staff very knowledgeable. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The food was delicious. They even did a special romantic dinner set up to celebrate our honeymoon. We would definitely recommend the place and would love to return.”
